Act V, Scene II

---

• The French troops move out to battle followed by Cordelia who is escorting her father.

• Edgar leaves his blind father under a tree promising to return.

• Edgar returns with the news that the French troops have lost the battle and that Cordelia and Lear are taken prisoners. Gloucester is devastated, but Edgar encourages Gloucester to follow him.
