Rowlands Wesleyan Methodist, Summerseat
A Quarterly Meeting of the Bury Methodist circuit in 1829 resolved to collect subscriptions to help build chapels at Summerseat and Tottington.
The Church and Sunday school were first opened in 1830, with John Robinson Kay being one of the original trustees.  This was soon found to be too small, and it was agreed in 1844 that a new chapel should be built. The foundation stone was laid on Whit Sunday, May 16th 1845 and opened in 1847. Closed in 1970 due to the building being unsafe. The first 2 pictures are of the original Church, the photo below is the new Church opened Whit Weekend 2005, showing the school next door.
