The first signs of my ROONEY family are a baptism of Christopher ROONEY at St Alban's Roman Catholic Church, Blackburn on 30 Sep 1816 to parents Christopher ROONEY and Mary BROUGHAM, godparents ?Antonio? KAY and Martha ?NUTTLE.

St. Mary's Catholic Chapel in Enfield replaced the former chapel at Dunkenhalgh sometime between 1810 and 1819. They were both in the township of Clayton-le-Moors, chapelry of Altham, ancient parish of Whalley (source LDS catalog)

The next record found is a marriage at Christ Church, Ainsworth on 29 May 1833 of James ROONEY, Block Printer to Mary HUTCHINSON, spinster, both of this parish, with consent of parents, both made their marks, witnesses John Hardman (?curate) and John TOOTILL (made his mark).

Of no connection - Ellen was of Middle Hulton married 17th Sep 1838 at St Mary's, Deane
FreeBMD has a marriage in the Bolton district SepQ 1838 for Ellen ROONEY to one of John FAIRBROTHER, James HOWARTH, John OWEN, James SMITH

1843 - Ainsworth Christ Church - LancsBMD - marriage of Mary ROONEY to Michael SMITH - this has been checked and is for a Mary KOONEY, father Michael KOONEY, tailor.
