In 1998 the responsibility of accreditation and the monitoring of
Australian residential Aged Care facilities was shifted from the
then, Commonwealth Department of Health and Family Services
to the newly established Aged Care Standards and Accreditation
Agency.
Reports on Australian facilities are available from the
ACSAA website.

Support Aged Care is an approach by experienced individuals
interested in the maintaining and improvement where necessary
of standards of care for those who live in residential Aged Care i.e.
Nursing Homes or Aged Care Hostels or who need to use Home
and Community Care services for the elderly.

This site has an average of over 5000 individuals visiting each
year (approx 60% Australians) with those returning making an
extra 3000 'hits' annually. [Aug 2003]
