Boat Licence Courses
Classroom Based Training
Our one-day course is approximately 8 hours duration and is conducted up to 7 days a week. All course handbooks and relevant literature will be provided free of charge on the day. The course consists in part of a land based theory programme covering the following topics.

The practical session is conducted on our fully equipped commercial vessels:-
• 4.9 meter sea hunter renegade with a centre console using the exceptional 90HP Honda 4 stroke engine
• 5.95 "Stessco Shotgun Centre Cab" with the powerful 150HP Honda 4 stroke engine
The on-water program includes:-
• Leave and return to launching facility or berth
• Bring a receational vessel alongside a floating object
• Moor and anchor a recreational vessel
• Manoeuvre a recreational vessel
• Manoeuvre a recreational vessel in adverse conditions
• Exercise seamanship
Optional Training Delivery
Take your time and study at home. We supply all relevent materials including our own course handbook. If you have any questions or concerns you can contact our qualified instructors via e-mail or telephone. Once you have completed your study and exam paper, make an appointment for your practical session.
On completion you will receive a Statement of Competency to take to Queensland Transport. (Only available if a Boatsafe training facility is not available in your area of residence or if your work arrangements prevent your attendance from a Boatsafe course.)
Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of prior learning is available for those who have had previous experience on boats, either in the field of recreational or commercial.
Documented evidence will need to be provided to our centre before we can proceed with the process.
Upon Completion
After satisfactorily completing any of our BOATSAFE competency-based training programs you will be issued with a STATEMENT OF COMPETENCY that you will need to present in person to a Queensland Transport Customer Service Centre along with some form of identification. After paying the licence fee you will be issued with a lifetime licence that will be attached to the Queensland Drivers Licence Database and this licence will enable to you to drive a vessel in any State of Australia that has boat licence requirements.
The minimum age requirements in Queensland to obtain a Boat or Jet Ski Licence is 16.
