SYDNEY FERRY DISASTER

The 28th March, 2007 marks a sad day in the skating community. While four people died tragically, three remained seriously injured in the collision between a boat and ferry on Sydney Harbour.


Hundreds of  family and friends gathered for Simone Moore's funeral, held Wednesday 4th of April at St. Michael's Anglican Church, Vaucluse.

Alan Blinn's funeral was held on the Wednesday the 11th of April at  Macquarie Park Crematorium, North Ryde. Over 200 people attended the funeral. Tributes were heart-felt from, Alan's three passions, his family, the medical profession and ice-skating.

The executive of NSWISA has created a memorial fund in Alan & Simone's honour.

The funeral for Morgan Innes was held on Tuesday 10th April at 10.00 am at The Good Samaritan Centre, Lourdes Hill College, 86 Hawthorn Road, Hawthorn, Brisbane. Hundreds of her friends from school and afar attended to farewell Morgan.

Liz Cain is back at work, has been back on the ice and has even been skiing in Canada.

Rita Zonnekeyn, a Belgian judge badly damaged in the accident, is recovering well back in Belgium. She is back working as Technical Controller for the ISU.

The Coroner's Inquest outcome was announced two days before the 1st anniversary of the accident and found the navigational lights were not on on the cruiser.
