The helicopter flies quite low, giving a great view of Lake Toba as you fly along the eastern shore of what is in fact a very large volcanic crater. It was a pretty low rainfall period at the time and so the waterfalls along the shore were quite small. |

The changing scenery between the site and Medan is amazing. From the helicopter height the plantations look like different textured carpets, this one being pineapples. |

The volcanic rocks along the shore of Lake Toba are quarried for building use. The guys climb the slopes and deliberately start landslides to get the rocks to the shoreline. Then they load up boats and transport them around the lake to where they are being used. |

I am not sure of this is a cofee or a tea plantation. From the air it looked like a spectacular undulating carpet, didnt come out as well in the photo. |
