Random Inc presents Arcanacon XXII Roleplaying Convention.

Theme: A Sydsummer Night's Dream: Folk Tales and Faerie Stories.

Discription: Arcanacon is a four day games-fest held by gamers for gamers. It is run over the Australia Day weekend, packing 13 sessions of roleplaying, minatures, boardgames and special events into 4 days of frenetic fun.

When: Held over the Australia Day long weekend, from Friday the 23rd to Monday the 26th of January 2004. The Con starts at 2pm on the Friday and goes through to the prizegiving and post-con do on the Monday night.

Note: not quite opposite the Collingwood Town Hall (Melways 2C, G9). It is effectively on Hoddle Street and closeby to Johnston Street.

The site is close to Collingwood railway station and there are numerous busses up and down Hoddle St as well as trams a short walk away on Smith St. There is some carparking available on site for attendees.

Fees: $6 registration fee, plus a $6 fee for each session that you play. The convention cost is capped at $60 for the Get Wrecked entry. Some special events, such as the War Hammer 40K have a set cost instead of a per session cost.

Visitor costs $5 for the whole convention and allows you to take part in public participation events, such as the CheapAss demonstrations.

Western Suburbs Wargames Association presents Warhammer Ancients 15mm Competition 2004.

Description: Warhammer Ancients 15mm Competition.

  • 2000 Points
  • 15mm / painted armies preferred
  • Armies selected from any and all of the published Supplements. Armies found in supplements supercede those found in Armies of Antiquity where appropriate. Army Lists need to be supplied upon payment of registration fee.
  • RULES
  • As per relevant current rules and supplements.
  • All armies must include a General and Army Standard bearers are no longer compulsory.
  • Allies are permitted where allowed so long as they are historically accurate and suitable.
  • Games will be played on 6 foot by 4 foot tables with terrain pre set by the umpire.
  • Where possible traditional enemies will be pitted against each other and when not possible the Swiss system will dictate opponents.
  • Games will last 7 turns or two and a half hours.
  • Scoring details will be provided on the day.
  • Players will be required to display their army to their opponent prior to each game commencing, and should spend 5 minutes discussing any special rules or features of each unit.
  • Make your army list available also.
  • Battles will be as per the Pitched Battle on page 79 of the Rules.
  • Unpainted Armies are not allowed.
  • WINNING
  • A range of prizes will be available on each day followed by a grand prize for the winner over the two day event.

A Rogue Trader Tournament

Conquest Easter Games Convention Conquest 2004.

Description: Roleplaying & Gaming Convention. Official Rogue Trader Tournament.

Where:

When: Friday the 9th of April to Monday the 12th of April, 2004.

Note: Melbourne High is a larger venue, located opposite South Yarra train station, with onsite parking and a kitchen we can use to cook fresh food for the canteen.

Sessions: Each day is divided into four blocks of three hours starting at 9.00am, 12:30pm, 4.00pm and 7.30pm.

Each game session is scheduled to run for two and a half hours from the start of that block, leaving either half an hour or a full hour between playing sessions to get from one game to the next, get something to eat, or just socialise and catch your breath.

There are thirteen official sessions.

There is no 9.00 am playing session on Friday because of registration, and the convention ends with the award ceremony from 4.00 pm on Monday. The convention doors open at 8.30am each day.

Facilities: Conquest runs a canteen which offers a wide range of food. Hot dogs, pies, suasage rolls, sandwiches & rolls are just some of the many items available. Also Chapel Street and Toorak Road cafes and restaurants are just a short walk away if you wish a more formal meal.

Winning participants will receive a trophy and sponsorship prizes. WSGS have purchased 45 trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.

Competition: 15 mm WWII - Flames of War Tournament.

Rules: Flames of War as published October 2002, plus any official supplements published on the Battlefront website (http://www.battlefront.co.nz) by 31 March 2004.

Forces: 1500 point Mid-War forces as stipulated in the Flames of War rules and official supplements published to the Battlefront website by 31 March 2003. Entrants should supply their Order of Battle with their entry form.

Format: Five, two and a half hour rounds (split 3 rounds Saturday, 2 rounds Sunday). Swiss Chess format applies.  Swiss chess ranking will be taken from Generalship scores.  Game results will be decided as per the rules (i.e. 6-1, 5-2, 4-3) and scoring will follow the format published by Battlefront in the Tournament Guide available from the Battlefront website.

Title: The title will be decided from the combined score of Generalship (max 30 pts), Sportsmanship (max 15 pts) and Historical Army (max 15 pts) with ties decided on count back.

Player Requirements: Players will need to supply their own copy of the rules and official supplements (as appropriate), forces, rulers, dice and artillery templates. Everything else, such as terrain, smoke markers, scoring sheets, etc. will be provided.
