I learned the piano 1989-1993. Although I never took exams, I enjoyed the playing and theory. I also took the subject music throughout high school. Composition was a favourite part of the subject. In the later school years I performed with the school band Manic Depression, named after a Jimi Hendrix song, which included best man Ramon Canale. We proudly took out first place in the Cairns School Battle of the Bands!! A covers band, we enjoyed many rocking songs, including the works of Jimi Hendrix, Faith No More, Pearl Jam and many others...
The piano is a beautiful instrument, but being a technical geek and believing keyboardists can rule the world (megalomaniac), I can't help but fall in love with synthesisers. I first dabbled with my schools Korg M1 synthesiser (Wikipedia.org has more information on the M1) and bought my own late 1992; I still have that keyboard to this day. Some very distinctive sounds, especially the piano sound, which is still evident in dance tracks and advertisements today.
In 2006, the trusty M1 was finally superseded (and now lives at my room at camp) as the rig of choice by the immaculately sounding, full piano action Yamaha S90ES. The most amazing feature is the 53Mb of memory dedicated to recreating the sound of the Yamaha S700 concert grand piano-a $US250,000 instrument!! However, it also has 1000+ other instruments and sounds to feast on. You can read more about this brilliant bit of gear at the Yamaha web site.
Completing the suite of musical instruments is the Jackson JDR-94 electric guitar, with twin humbuckers and single pick up combination and whammy bar to suit.
Any of the above instruments can be cranked up through the original, one-of-a-kind Nali amp/speaker combo (thanks Ramon) - 200W 4 channel beast that sounds as good today, if not better, than it did back in 1993. You can see it in the corner of the picture below, just behind the guitar.
I hope to be able to bring some original compositions to you once I have the sequencer on the Yamaha S90ES and recording it to computer figured out!!

Below is a text file of the music that forms our collection. Feel free to gaze through the collection. Use your "find" function if there's something your seeking. The text file first of all lists the available folders (generally arranged under album name for each band name) and then each file under each folder. As a variety of methods have been used to compile this collection, naming conventions are not necessarily consistent!
Last count: 17413 compressed music files. 20 compressed video files. (12-11-2006)
