The facts.

45 to 75% of the fruit (Apples) are bruised by the rough handling by the pickers, 10 to 20% by the
compaction and pressures sustained on the fruit in the bins especially when the bin is in transit to the
sorting house.

Such as before: from the pickers hand to shoulder bag (some bruising here) then from picker's bag to

The picker places the fruit in the tube and the conveyor does the rest.
5. The picker is free from the burden of a heavy bag to carry up and down the ladder.
6. He or she will be less fatigued over a much longer period of time.
7. Will have reduced risk from falling or causing injury to themselves.
Early morning mist/dew or rain (water) on the ladders makes it hazardous with the added weight of a
fruit bag.

One picker at the present can fill a ground bin of between 2700 to 3200 apples (depending on there size) in one hour at a cost to the farmer of $26.00au.
With this machine;
the picker will be able to fill the same bin in around 20 minutes, meaning one picker can pick 3 bins per hour.
The farmer can now pay the picker $30.00au per hour and still be way out in front with profits.

1 bin per hour. pay picker $26.00.
3 bins per hour pay picker $30.00 a saving of $48.00.
A fit strong and healthy young man can at the present pick fruit up to 8 hours per day which is 8 bins per day
