My name is Jill Freshwater. Welcome to my family history website.

I became interested in family history in the 1980's and I'm now making an effort to gather some of the information I have collected over the years into a cohesive account. As I seem to have been more successful at finding out about my mother's family, the Buckinghams from Twitchen in North Devon, I will begin there.

My Pedigree Chart gives an overview of my Buckingham ancestry. Other information is arranged 'generationally'. (As Buckinghams intermarried, there are sometimes details of more than one Buckingham family per generation.)

My grandfather migrated to Australia in 1876 and, over the years, contact was lost with the family in Devon. However on my visits to England, I have met many Buckinghams descended from the same family as I am, still living in the South Molton area.

Since I started researching the Buckingham Family, I have received help from many relatives both distant and close (in terms of location and relationship) who have helped me weave the many threads of the family together, twigs that branch out from the main branches I have put into this genealogy. There are too many to thank individually but a special thanks must go to Phil Baker of Teignmouth, Devon, whose initial research gave me a great starting point. Phil also took me around Devon showing me where the Buckinghams had their roots. Thank you so much Phil for your help.
